Phil Michels Law Sponsors National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA)

Los Angeles, California – Phil Michels Law, a personal injury and medical malpractice law firm, has become a sponsor of the National Drowning PreventionAlliance (NDPA), a non-profit organization dedicated to the belief that drowning is preventable with education. Phil Michels Law is the only California law firm sponsoring the NDPA. The firm provides legal representation for families who have lost loved ones in drowning accidents, or who are suffering from injuries due to a drowning accident. The firm is also actively involved in pursuing changes to California law which would require lifeguards for Physical Education(P.E.) swimming classes.

“Drowning is tragic because it is preventable,” said founding partner and medical malpractice attorney Phil Michels. “Unfortunately, we regularly see the heartrending aftermath of drowning accidents and sought to collaborate with theNDPA in their efforts to increase awareness of drowning prevention.”

Currently, Phil Michels Law has three pending drowning cases:•

  • Representing the parents of a boy in central California who died from drowning in his high school’s swimming pool during a P.E. class, which did not have adequate supervision.
  • Representing the family a 14-year-old teenager who drowned under similar circumstances while in a high school PE class in Indio, California.•
  • Representing the family of a 10-year-old girl who drowned in the backyard swimming pool after being left unattended by the homeowner
